Chicka-Ducky
Created for OST Composing Jam: Overtime.
Chicka-Ducky is a fake game that is about an animal named Chicka-Ducky. Part chicken, part duck, and 100% scared for her life. Created by an evil farmer named The Farmer, who plans to enslave a whole slew of creature combos, starting with all of the birds. Chicka-Ducky decides to escape the farm, terrified of the experiments ahead. She meets a Two-Headed Dog, another one of The Farmer's experiments who is his loyal minion.
The Council of Farmers approves the mass kidnapping and testing of all feathered creatures, and constructs a machine capable of killing and controlling birds' bodies, most notably King Wing. Chicka-Ducky was seeking refuge in King Wing's kingdom when the powerful almighty royal highness is suddenly transformed into... Undead King Wing!
Something extremely similar happens in Banjo-Tooie, which is the main source of inspiration for this album, to the point of almost ripping off songs entirely (compare King Coal boss fight to Monster Miner song on this album, yikes!)
I was also inspired by Victorian era music. An example is the classical song "To A Wild Rose", from which "Ol' Farm Country" really pulled off a heist in the daytime. And "Two-Headed Dog" uses the first three notes from "Two-Headed Boy". Maybe same key, too? Who knows? Well, maybe Jeff Mangum knows.
Chicka-Ducky goes on an adventure yadda yadda defeats The Farmer the end.
The instruments used on the album were from the Korg M1 VST. Yes, everything.
